On this page
Each UAE bank sets its own requirements for opening a corporate account, and those requirements apply to your company, its owners and its activity. We do not rate zones or banks on how easy it is to open an account. What we can show is what each zone publishes, for example whether it offers help with bank-account opening, so you can ask the right questions.
What zones publish
Many zones state on their own channels that they help companies open a bank account, for example through partner banks or introductions. The comparison below includes the row "Zone helps with bank accounts", taken from each zone's own website; "Not published" means the zone does not say.

Questions to ask the bank
Before you apply, ask each bank for written answers:
- Which documents do you need for a company licensed in this free zone, and for its owners and signatories?
- Do you need a UAE-resident signatory with an Emirates ID?
- Do you need an in-person meeting, or can parts of the process be done remotely?
- Does the activity on my licence need any additional review or approval?
- What minimum balance, fees and timeline apply to the account?
Questions to ask the zone
- Do you offer help with bank-account opening, and what does it involve?
- Which documents will the company receive at incorporation (licence, certificate of incorporation, memorandum and articles, share register, establishment card)?
- Which tenancy document do banks receive for my office or flexi-desk?
Keep your story consistent
The activity on your licence, the description in your business plan and the counterparties in your contracts should match. Give every bank the same description and documents.
Visa timing
If a bank needs a resident signatory, the account application may have to wait for the residence visa. Our guide to setup timelines covers the sequence, and each zone page shows the incorporation time the zone states.
What to do next
Shortlist zones that fit your activity, then ask the banks you are considering about their requirements for your case. The questionnaire can help you shortlist, and how we verify explains where our zone data comes from.

Questions worth asking
Does my choice of free zone decide whether a bank accepts me?
Each bank applies its own requirements to the company, its owners and its activity. We do not publish judgments on how banks view particular zones; ask the bank about your case before you commit.
Do zones help with bank accounts?
Many zones state on their own channels that they offer help with opening a bank account, for example introductions to partner banks. The comparison table shows which zones state this.
Do I need a UAE residence visa to open a corporate account?
Requirements differ between banks. Ask each bank whether it needs a UAE-resident signatory before you apply, and plan your visa timing accordingly.
Which documents will I need?
Banks publish their own lists. You will generally be asked for the company documents your zone issues and for identity documents of the owners and signatories; confirm the full list with the bank.
